Bicycles: Gift for lil bro

Ever since I am small, I have learned and enjoyed cycling, it brings out the fun in me and since I am not the kind of person who enjoys slow sports or constant speed, this is the perfect exercise machine for me. I have stopped exercising last year and my body is in such a bad shape.

I haven't been able to spend much time with my little brother, who is 10 years younger than me, as much as I wanted too, we are so far away and I only meet him a few times per year. I would like to share the joy of riding a bicycle with him too and if possible the whole family.

Figure 2: SLX shifters.
One of the most essential parts of a bicycle with gears is the shifters. The shifters consists of two, one for the front crank and the other for the cassettes. I have used fiddly and shifters of old, sometimes stuck in one gear and also failing to shift properly causing chains to rail out. These days, shifters are really smooth.

One of the most important safety aspects of the bicycle is the brakes, when going at a fast speed and suddenly your brakes fail, that is where accidents happens. I have upgraded the brakes from wire type to hydraulic so that, the braking mechanism is more powerful.

Figure 6: KHS Spidi frame.
I used to be very carefree when I am riding my bicycle, sometime I was too un-focused and didn't look into what direction I am heading to, I ended up in the drain, it was a very painful experience. It is thus important to look ahead while moving forward and handle the bike with safety in mind.

Figure 8: Disc brakes and shocks.
For most of the part, I have upgraded the bicycle to give my little bro a better biking experience. There are still a few parts which I can't upgrade due to the escalating costs, such as the shock absorbers which cost quite a fortune. Maybe next time.

I really hope he enjoys this mountain bike as much as I do. Bicycles have a way to take out the fun young spirit inside of you, better health and quality life.

Kick start 2014

A great start for the new year 2014, I went out cycling with some cycling buddies for new year. It is different from all the other years before as this time, I am really serious about making cycling a routine. I have to admit that it is tough to keep my weight in check.

I have exercise mood swing, I used to jog everyday and go to gym. However, I got bored of doing the rounds again and again, every day its almost the same. I went to gym, but at the gym, I got so tired and got back home very late that I dislike the time spend.

So, last year 2013, my friend introduced me to cycling, where he lent me his mountain bike, which I eventually bought cheap second hand from him. I learned a fun way to exercise my body and meet more friends who share the same passion. I hope this last and I enjoyed every trip on the bike.

I decided to myself that if I do get fit and back into shape, I would get a nice road bike for me. Well, at least that is something to get me motivated in the long run. I know it ain't going to be easy but I know where to start now. At least for now the passion is burning.

Uncomfortable

Figure 1: Lone moon.
I am quite forgiving as a person. I can tolerate others when I am at work or outside but there's one matter which is very sensitive to me. I cannot tolerate living for a long time with other people who I am not close with and have habits which I dislike. Meaning to say, not my close family members or my spouse.

It is a behavior that has developed in me since I was small, I was encourage never to stay at other people's place, despite it being my friend's house. So it is natural for me, to stay home with my family as I have lived since I am small. When I entered university that is where the problems arises.

I cannot tolerate my room mates making noise when I am sleeping at night. I don't mind when its day time, but I really cannot stand it. So, my anger gets to my head and things came crashing without me realizing it. Next day, no one dared to make much noise when I sleep.

So, now that I am working, I do not want to live in a house sharing with other people. I dislike having to tolerate other's whom I am not acquainted in a home setting. I don't mind after stepping out of my home, but where I sleep, rest, and spent the rest of my time in privacy, I do not wished to be disturbed.

What I eat..

I used to be an avid picky meat eater. Normally eating lots of carbohydrate and large amount of meat. Be it chicken, beef or other form of edible meat. I don't eat pork or exotic meat. Fried and grilled is my preferred choice, this and that huge amount of meat consumption.

Eating is great, I honestly say that I live to eat during those times when I was so engrossed with delicious food. Fast food also fascinates me, I can eat a whole Brooklyn burger in about 30 minutes. One or two packs of fried french fries isn't enough for me. That was 2 years ago, before I went for a medical check up.

When I finally did a med check up for my job, I found that my cholesterol level skyrocketed, my busy schedule made me lazy to exercise and this is when I reach a realization that I am unfit and unhealthy. The situation got worse when I realized that all this unhealthy food fest investment only made me fit to die earlier.

Suddenly I have the urge to change, starting by denying soft drinks and also fast food. I realized that the money I earned will be worthless if I am unhealthy, all my collectibles will just be a waste if I can't even wear it due to my sickness.

After waking up from a wonderful food fest dream, I came back to the road of reality, all those deliciously tempting food will obviously bring me to doom. If I don't change now, I am slowly digging my grave, step by step walking closer to my grave.

Like the rabbit I'll get back to the basic food which Adam & Eve took, I won't live close to a century but at least I won't be suffering living my life.

Before dark

Figure 1: Before it's dark outside.
Been returning late back home since I've been busy with my project. Whenever I walked out of my office, it was already dark and the streetlights are shining brightly. It pleases me that my project is on schedule but I found out that I seem to have less time for the things that I really like to do.

Today, I decided to leave earlier than expected, as soon as the sky is about to get darker, I save up my work and reminded all my fellow mates to take a break and go back early today. Some did as I recommended and some others decide to stay and continue their unfinished work.

I realized that today, no matter how hardworking we are, how workaholic, we should take time to take off early from work and do the things we enjoy. I'll just ponder around my collectibles for a bit and tomorrow I'll take a pair out for a spin. Most probably will be wearing those Nike SBs.

Bad Food

Figure 1: Red wine & delicious cheese cakes.
Got sick recently, ate food which aren't healthy and yet regarded as a hotel's best dishes. Drank drinks which isn't healthy for the liver and got a bit ache on my ankle. I came from a family with a long line of drinking history which initially ends up with gout.

This isn't good, I have strayed so much from my healthy diet that I even ate food which are high in cholesterol and ditching those good ones which have high fiber. I need a change, not tomorrow but right now. I felt scared but I believe its not too late.

Without good health I believe all the money I am to acquire mean nothing, without health I must say that I've lost my wealth. I won't look good if I am not healthy, I can think creatively without a good healthy state of mind. These cravings are getting a little bit insane lately.

The red wine is very tempting and those secret recipe cheese cakes, yummy. Need to restrain myself and cuff myself from my appetite if possible. I kind of lost track of my health, need to get a medical check up soon and a change of lifestyle..
